For parents

How does the marking work?
Uandishi reads the handwriting word for word, you check the words, and it marks the essay against the CBC rubric for your child's grade: a level, each mistake with its fix, what went well and what to try next.
Is it done by a person or by AI?
By AI, with a second, independent AI marking and rule checks on every essay. When they disagree, a person looks before you see the result. It's a learning aid, not an official assessment.
Which grades and languages?
Grades 4 to 12, English compositions and Kiswahili insha, on the Kenyan CBC curriculum.
How much does it cost?
KES 10 a marked page, from a wallet you top up by M-Pesa or card. Nothing is charged if a photo can't be read or marking fails.
What if the handwriting is hard to read?
Uandishi reads most children's handwriting, and you can fix any word before marking. Very blurry photos are caught before you send them.
Does my child need an account?
No. Children in Grades 4 to 9 never sign in; you use Uandishi for them. Students in Grades 10 to 12 can have their own account once you approve it.

For teachers and schools

Is it really free for teachers?
Yes. Uandishi pays for marking teachers' uploads. Parents see a free glimpse of each result and pay only if they unlock the full feedback.
How does a school join?
Register with the school's KNEC code; the head teacher confirms with a code sent by text. The school starts on a trial at once.
Can I change a mark?
Yes. A teacher can change any level and add a comment, and parents see it was reviewed by the teacher.

Privacy and safety

What do you keep about my child?
A first name and grade, their essays and the feedback. Essay photos are deleted 12 months after marking unless you keep them as their Writing journey.
Can I delete everything?
Yes: delete a child or your whole account in Settings, and download your data first if you like.
